I am pleased to report that Bill and Cindy Rietvelt and crew including Don Collins, and Mary Joe Bartholomew and the great bunch of kids from Wenatchee High School are making great progress with the Giant Puppet Project at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center. Mary Joe a long time friend and fellow puppet maker has worked on a number of projects over the years with the Rietvelts up in Leavenworth and has been associated with the Friday Night Coffee House at the Leavenworth Grange for many years as well. Last night it was painting the puppet heads and hands and preparing silk strips for a number of the costumes. What a great project. In other local art news, Jan Theriault and John Barrett with Two Rivers Gallery were pleased with the sale of their first art book on Amazon.com and have more to list there. Also, that wandering artist Martha Flores is set to return to the Valley next Tuesday just in time to prepare for her show at the Performing Arts Center. She is to place three large pieces there on May 4th. And, up in Cashmere, Artie Bowman has been busy with further developing her connections and joint marketing possibilities with other local businesses in the Downtown area of Cashmere and the Cashmere Chamber of Commerce. She says, that she is planning various meet and greets / walk and talks to promote the idea of other shops and restaurants participating in the Second Saturday activities in Cashmere. What a great idea Artie for both the Cashmere Arts and Activities Center and the local business community there. Best of luck Artie. I for one can’t wait to see next month’s Second Saturday opening.
