Well, there’s lots of good stuff going on in the arts right about now. Plenty of classes, lectures, socials and places to see and appreciate art.

For starters over at Mc Dees they will be offering a BEGINNER WATERCOLOR class with Instructor: Mickie Files for $40.00 on Maybe I should take that class, as I haven't done much watercolor since I did some portraits of my kids several years ago. OCTOBER 22 10:00am - 3:00pm. Then on OCTOBER 27, November 3, 10 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm they will be hosting an OLD ENGLISH CALLIGRAPHY COURSE with Instructor: Don Collins $60.00 – Go Don - (includes 3 evenings). And on OCTOBER 28-29 Friday 10:00am - 4:00pm & Saturday 9:00am - 3:00pm they will be offering an INTERMEDIATE WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP with Instructor: Kay Barnes for $120.00

And in the upper valley the Icicle Arts’ After School Arts Program Is Now Enrolling Icicle Arts announces the return of the After School Arts Program in Leavenworth and Cashmere, starting in November- For more information contact: (509) 548-2278 or anna@iciclearts.org. Students may enroll now for fall, winter, and spring sessions at Osborn Elementary and at Cashmere United Methodist Church (walking distance from all Cashmere schools). The once-weekly multi-disciplinary arts program, taught by Andrea Locke and special guest artists, is focused on providing affordable and professional arts education and inspiring students to continue their own personal exploration and study of arts throughout their lives.

And for those willing or interested in getting their art fix a little further out of town the Allied Arts of Yakima will be hosting a Social, Art Lecture and Q&A with Artist and Juror Isaac Layman Friday, October 21, 2011 • 4:30-6:30pm at the Peggy Lewis Gallery, Allied Arts 5000 W. Lincoln Avenue Yakima, WA 98908. The Mix and mingle will start at 4:30, with a Lecture and power point presentation from 5:15- 5:40 and a Q & A from 5:40 - 6:30. So;” Come prepared with those questions you have been itching to ask!” A $5 donation is greatly appreciated and encouraged. Call in advance to 509-966-0930 to secure a reservation. Mean while I have just received another vote notification for the photo I submitted to EPhotozine the online photo magazine out of the UK titled “Pond at Dusk”

And, here in town, I got word from Zeb the owner of Lemolo’s Café, that he would like to have my art there for another month as Featured Artist at Lemolos. So; of course I said yes. I Hope everyone gets a chance to get over to Lemolo’s to enjoy the food and drink while taking in the art on the walls. And Karen Dawn Dean (the one who is to blame, by the way, for teaching Terry Johnson how to throw and glaze a pot), is going to be the featured artist for November at Gallery 4South. Good luck Karen, and thanks for mentoring Terry, the Mad Potter, Johnson in the art of making pottery.

And speaking of Terry Johnson, I stopped in at Terry Signs on my way back from docenting at Two Rivers Gallery this morning, to check out the latest activity over Terry Signs and saw not only his latest art work but, got a chance to see the 38th Anniversary Art Sale sign he is working on for his Big Blow Out Art Sale coming this weekend. Good luck Terry and, Yes I’ll bring over some of my art and Martha’s art too for the sale. I think I might even bring over the bowl I finished the other day. Though, I must say it looks pretty good right here at our home.

And last but not least there is still time to submit your art for consideration for the Spring Hill Suites key Card Competition. Anyone interested in submitting art just need go to http://www.springhillsuiteskeycardcontest.com/contest_overview.html for the guidelines and to submit your art online.

Have a very artful day.
