VOLLEYBALL (1-1, 1-1)
Tuesday, Moses Lake (2-0) home.
The Panthers have their opener today when Moses Lake visits the local gym. The Chiefs are in an early season tie with Eisenhower at the top of the league standings. This will be the 50th match with MLHS since 1980. Wenatchee has had little trouble with their Grant County opponent…the first 27 matches all went to the Purple & Gold, and the Panthers hold a 46-3 lead in the series. WHS has a 7-match win streak. This contest became the first home match for WHS when Saturday’s matches with Mead and Woodinville were “smoked out.”

League Standings: Eisenhower 2-0, Moses Lake 2-0, Wenatchee 1-1, Davis 1-1, Eastmont 0-2, Sunnyside 0-2

GIRLS SOCCER (0-1, 0-5)
Tuesday, Moses Lake (1-0, 3-0) away.
The Panthers are looking for their first league win, first overall win…in fact their first goal. They are in record setting territory, but unfortunately it’s the wrong kind of records. Counting the last game of 2011 they have lost six straight. That ties the school record and has happened three times before. They have been shutout in all six of those matches and that ties a school record that occurred in 2003-04. Today they are off to Moses Lake, a team that has a 3-game win streak over WHS, but a school Wenatchee dominated for a long time. From 1987 through 2003 the Panthers were 22-0. Since then ML has been more competitive and has won six of the last 14. In Moses Lake the Panthers are 13-4.

Thursday, Cashmere home.
This is the Panthers final nonleague game. In seven previous meetings with the 1A school between 2000 and ’09 the Bulldogs hold a 4-3 lead. Wenatchee does have a 2-game win streak though, winning in 2007 and ’09.

League Standings: Davis 2-0, Eastmont 1-0, Moses Lake 1-0, Wenatchee 0-1, Eisenhower 0-1, Sunnyside 0-2
