Wenatchee 8, Walla Walla 4 last night.

Wenatchee at Walla Walla 7:05 tonight.

An AppleSox win today and the division series is over and Wenatchee will host the Corvallis/Medford winner Saturday in the first game of the league playoff.  An AppleSox loss this evening and the Sox and Sweets go it it one final time tomorrow to settle the division playoff winner.

In the South Division Corvallis beat Medford 8-6 at Medford last night and their series moves to Corvallis tonight.   With the win last night Wenatchee now has won three in a row over Walla Walla and leads the all-time series 15-12.    The win over Walla Walla was the seventh straight at home...five league, one playoff and one nonleague.

2013 Compared to Previous Seasons

In a comparison of the 14 years of league games the AppleSox offense came out right about in the middle this year, while the pitching didn’t fair so well.

Offense.  The rankings are based on average per game except for the final three which are season averages. Hits 6th (9.74).  Singles 4th (7.51).  Doubles 3rd (1.87).  Triples 14th (.02).  Home runs 6th (.34).  Extra base hits 5th (2.23).  Total bases 7th (12.66).  Runs 7th (5.36).  Stolen base attempts 6th (1.72).  Stolen bases 7th (1.21).  Batting average 6th of 14 years (.275).  Stolen base percentage 7th (.703).  On base percentage 9th (.354).

Pitching.  Two categories (bases on balls and hit batters) are among the best ever, while the other six categories are near the bottom.  The rankings are based on average per game except for ERA and opponents batting average. Run allowed 9th (4.36).  Earned runs 10th (3.53).  Hits 13th (9.09).  Strike outs 13th (6.36).  Base on balls 2nd (2.49).  Hit batters 2nd (.62).  ERA 11th (3.65).  Opponents batting average 12th (.262).
