AppleSox begin series for the pennant tonight

Corvallis at Wenatchee 7:05 tonight. 

First round of WCL two-out-of-three championship series.   

This is the fourth time in eight years the AppleSox and Knights have met in the title series.  In 2008 Corvallis won in two games.  In 2009 Wenatchee won in two games.  Last year Wenatchee won in three games.  


AppleSox/Knights Stuff

Playoff games, Wenatchee 5-3 52.9 percent of the games (37 of 70) have been decided by one (22) or two (15) runs.

The two have totally dominated the WCL championship playoffs.  Of the 18 teams involved in the nine championship competitions, seven times it has been Wenatchee and six times Corvallis.  The others are Bellingham, Bend, Moses Lake, Spokane and Walla Walla once each.

The two have by far the best all-time won/loss records in the WCL...Corvallis 285-135, 67.9 percent and Wenatchee 270-148, 64.6.  Next is Bend 219-202, 51.9.  (Medford is 55.6, but only one season.)  


Wenatchee in Playoffs

In their 14-year history, Wenatchee is 23-13 in division and championship playoffs.  On their home field they are 12-5 and have won six of their past seven. Against Corvallis they are 5-3 and 2-2 at Paul Thomas.  


Home Sweet Home Wenatchee has a seven-game home winning streak.  Earlier in the season they won nine straight.  They are 23-7 on the local diamond.  The 76.7 winning percentage ties for the third best in Sox history.  


August 17 Games The AppleSox have played three playoff games on this date and won two of them.  In ‘09 they beat Corvallis 4-2 and in ‘10 Bend 6-5.  Last year Corvallis won 6-2.  They are 1-1 at home.
