Wenatchee vs. Bellingham

Started in 2000 Wenatchee:

leads 53-29 overall, 49-27 league and 4-2 playoff. leads at home 28-11.

has a 3-game losing streak.

at one time lead the series 47-20 (70.1%), but are 6-9 (40.0%) beginning with the final game in 2011.

has played Bellingham 82 times, the second most games against anybody but Kelowna (99 times).

won their first-ever game in franchise history from the Bells 2-1 on June 2, 2000 at Joe Martin Field.

* Wenatchee is 22-17 and tied with Walla Walla for first in the North.  Bellingham is 20-18 and a game and a half back in third.

* The AppleSox first road trip of the season was to Whatcom County where the host team won all three games, the only time the Bells have ever swept a series from the Sox.

* A series sweep by the local nine this week would end the league season series tied at 3-3.  The only time in the first 13 years Wenatchee has lost a season series to Bellingham was in their initial year of 2000.

Toasty

As of 10 o’clock this morning the National Weather Service predicts a high for both today and tomorrow of 101.

Sunday’s 6-5 loss to Victoria was the 14th 1-run game Wenatchee has been involved in this season...in fact, three of the last four outings were all decided by a single digit.  In extra frame games the AppleSox are 8-6.

A Case for Finding Home Plate

Wenatchee averaged 3.75 runs per game the first 12 games and went 5-7.  The next 22 games averaged 6.77 they went 15-7.  The last five games averaged 3.40 they were 2-3.

Homers in Consecutive Games

The Mariners bashing the horsehide out of the park for 23 consecutive games recently begs the question, how ‘bout them Sox?  Two times in their 13½ seasons Wenatchee sluggers have homered in five straight games.  The first time occurred in August of 2009 – Brian Burke, Kevin Komstadius, Ronnie Schaeffer, Brian Burke and Brian Burke. And the second time in August last season – Mitchell Gunsolus, Taylor Sparks, Ryan Howell, Ryan Howell and Taylor Sparks.

July 24 Games

The 24th has been a pretty good day for the AppleSox.  All their games have been of the league variety where they are 8-2 and 3-2 at home.  They have a 1-game losing streak.  They’ve faced Bellingham twice and defeated them both times.
