Bellingham 3, Wenatchee 2 last night

Klamath Falls at Wenatchee at 7:05 tonight.

Wenatchee vs. Klamath Falls
Started in 2011
Wenatchee:
leads 11-1 overall and in league.
leads at home 5-1.
has a 6-game win streak...they won all six games a year ago.

Klamath Falls is he hottest team in the league. They dropped their first game and have since won five straight. A year ago ago finished third in their 5-team division with a 26-28 record.

Eight of the 11 WCL cities have had professional minor league baseball in the past. As each team comes to town I’ll try and remember to make mention of those teams.
The team that is here tonight got they name from the Klamath Falls Gems who played four seasons from 1948 to 1951. They were members of the Class D Far West league and they played in Kiger Stadium, the same field the current Gems squad uses. From the Kiger Stadium website. “Construction began in late 1947 at the Crest Street site of Kiger Stadium, with a goal of opening in Spring 1948 for the Class D Klamath Falls Gems, the Far West League farm team of the Philadelphia Phillies. The opening, and the original Gems, were a huge success, as the team led the league in attendance in three of the four years they were in the League, and won the Far West League's final Championship before the league folded after the 1951 season.”

Tonight the AppleSox will take the field for the 700th time in their 13-plus year history. Record - wins 449, losses 250. Site - home 404, away 295. Game type – league 527, nonleague 137, playoff 35.

Game 600, Bend Elks 6, Wenatchee 5, away, 7/15/11

The AppleSox are 2-4, 4-6. The last time they were 2-4 in league play was 2007. The last time they were 4-6 for the season was 2003.
The last time they started with losses in their first three road games was 2001.
The last time they lost four in a row were the final four games of 2011.

Four of the six league games have been decided by a single run...two wins and now two losses.

June 15 games
The fifteenth day of June has been a good one. The Sox are 9-2 overall, 7-2 in league, 3-1 at home and have a 4-game win streak. A year ago today they defeated Klamath Falls 12-4 at K.F.
