Season Half Over
With last night’s game in B.C. the AppleSox have completed 30 of their 59-game overall schedule and 27 of their 54-game league schedule. Time flies when you’re having fun.
Number of Days as League Leader
With the season 50 percent complete here are the number of days spent by each club leading the East – Wenatchee 19, Yakima Valley 11, Kelowna 4 and Walla Walla 1. Note: There have been 31 calendar days but because of ties the total comes to 35.
Sultans of Swat...Sox Not
The home run has not figured prominently in Wenatchee’s offensive arsenal so far this season. In fact in round-trippers per game 2014 is ninth among the Sox 15 years. Seven balls have left the old ball yard. In 30 total games that is 0.23 per game. The team record was established in 2004 when 0.56 four-baggers per game were hit (29 in 52 games). Home runs are good. They may not hit many, but our local heroes are winning at a 100 percent clip in games that they do – six for six (swatted two in one game).
