Serenity, Symbolism, Surrealism and Passionate Poetry

Well, last night was First Friday in Wenatchee and what a great experience it was to get out and see the art around town. Before the festivities could begin I helped deliver and install some more sculptures at Two Rivers Gallery and while I was there took a few pics of the show before all the art walkers would be there. Then as the evening approached I was off to town eager to see what awaited my eye. And, I was not disappointed.

First Friday January 2012... Perfect!

What a delight to the eyes was the first First Friday of 2012. I began my art journey with a visit to the new still in development gallery of Lila Putnum. For years she was displaying her art at the solon just outside her new digs. While I was there she and her daughter were busily putting up the show for the throngs of First Friday visitors that hopefully found her place on Columbia Street just across from both the train station and bus depot. I really felt remiss in ...

Warm Colors, Intense Emotion, Raku Boxes and Bronze Sculptures

Well, the year ended much as it began and as it was lived for art and artists in the valley and beyond.Image Much of the last two days of the year were spent for many local artists in the process of changing out art and preparing for the January shows and First Friday events at local galleries.

Senior singers, Library Art, Old Fashioned Carols and More

Well, it’s been another full and exciting week for art in the Valley and Beyond. Saturday was the Second Saturday Opening and Reception at the Cashmere Arts and Activities Center which had a whole slew of lovely art creations for under a hundred dollars apiece in the main gallery for the Christmas show. The highlight of the night though was the live performance by the fourteen member Wenatchee Senior Center Singers. They sang so many of the Christmas Carols we all love to hear at this time of year especially ...

Dulcimers, Luthiers, Heidi's Good Road and All Things Musical

Well, today I’m feeling rather musical, or at least musically inspired. I am thinking not only of the art of making music, but the art of making musical instruments. I began thinking about instruments and inspired to write of them when I heard of the upcoming presentation of Heidi Muller and Bob Webb by Icicle Arts coming up on December 9th. Muller and Webb will be performing at the Leavenworth Community Coffeehouse playing holiday and winter solstice songs from their new holiday/solstice album,’ Light the Winter’s Dark’, in addition to ...

First Friday, Stepping Up, Stepping Out and a Fine Tme Out On The Town

Well, another First Friday has come and gone, and what an enjoyable evening it was. For Martha Flores and I the evening really underscored some of the best qualities and benefits of living in this wonderful valley. The convenience of being able to shop for hors d’ oeuvres for our Home Art Sale this weekend before heading to an office party at the 434 Orondo Counseling Center… meeting there with not only our close friends and co-workers but to met an artist new to us by the name of Cameron ...

Dancing and Having Fun on Black Friday Preparing for Tomorow

Well, today we braved the crowds and found parking at Office Depot and the Wenatchee Mall in order to get dadadada!!! 24”x36” foam core board to take to the NUART Gallery so Gary Doane could mount some posters showing the history and articles about Martha Flores past and present. This is to be displayed at the gallery tomorrow while Martha Dances and Paints live in front of the gallery from 11am till 3pm.

Richard Caemmere Art show Opening and Reception

Well, last night was quite the show at the Icicle Arts Gallery at 347 Division Street in Leavenworth. The Opening and Reception for Richard R. Caemmerer’s “Finding the Cosmos at Our Feet” which will be on display through December 15 was quite a hit. The exhibit features what has been described as “bold expressive original oil paintings inspired by the natural beauty and inspiration of Plain.” Managing Director Anna Miller and Curatorial & Exhibit Coordinator Bryan Miller did an excellent job in hosting the free reception in Richard’s honor at ...

The Beat Goes On With Yuri Konyshev, Fantastic Artist and Musician Too

Well, last night’s Second Saturday opening and reception for Yuri Konyshev was a resounding success. Some folks came, left for dinner and came back for more art and socializing. Others came and stayed all the way through till the doors were closed. Some art was purchased even before the installation was complete… so I’m sure this will be a very successful show over the next two months.

Art From Nature, Getty Images, Video at the Museum and Making the Rounds on First Friday

Well, yesterday was quite the busy day for art in the valley. Here at home for me the day started with putting together a little movie of the 5th! grade kids at the park making art from natural found objects at the river followed by a very special experience for them... that, being tutored in the bronze sculpture making process by none other than the phenomenal sculptor Kevin Patel. What a treat that was for the kids and for me to get to video. The video shot was for in ...
