Chilhuly in Dallas, Fantastic Art, and Blazing Photos

Well, it seems forever since I posted a new blog in this forum. In fact it has been almost exactly a month. But, that time has been artistically full and included travels far and wide, experiments with new artistic expression and photographing some pretty dramatic local events.

String Theory and Questions of Art

Well, along with everyone else on the Icicle Arts Gallery mailing list, I received my invitation to the opening reception for Wenatchee artist Jim Huber’s String Theory: A New Lyrical Vision on display through August 19. The reception will be at the gallery (347 Division St., Leavenworth) on Friday July 27, from 5-7PM. All ages are invited and light refreshments will be served. In reading the invitation I was struck not only by the title of the show (more on that in a bit) but by Jim’s thoughts on his ...

Las Brisas, Peggy Lewis and Icicle Arts: Great Shows Great Art

Well, the week past was, and, the week ahead promises to be, quite the art filled week for us in the valley and beyond. Last week was the intake of artwork for the juried art show out at Peggy Lewis Gallery in Yakima. For that event I accompanied Martha Flores out to Yakima and was pleasantly surprised to meet other members of the Two Rivers Gallery there bringing their artwork as well.

Minds Eye, Pybus and Gateway VIP Lounge Art Photos and Remembering on Memorial Day

Well, Thursday last offered an opportune bit of rest and relaxation away from a busy schedule of clients and home projects. For a few hours in the middle of the day I did my volunteer stint as a docent at the Two Rivers Gallery where I enjoyed yet another chance to meander about the art and of course take a few pictures.

Out Door Painting In and Out of Town

Well, yesterday was another fine day for art in the valley and beyond. The big story of the day was the Wenatchee River Conservatory of Music fundraiser at Beecher Mansion near the old Blewett Hwy. The event featured a whole slew of artist from Two Rivers Gallery painting live on site, while a variety of musical groups performed around the grounds. It was nice to see good friend Tanya Lawson there with one of the musical groups. And, we shared a good laugh together over a funny encounter just last ...

Serenity, Symbolism, Surrealism and Passionate Poetry

Well, last night was First Friday in Wenatchee and what a great experience it was to get out and see the art around town. Before the festivities could begin I helped deliver and install some more sculptures at Two Rivers Gallery and while I was there took a few pics of the show before all the art walkers would be there. Then as the evening approached I was off to town eager to see what awaited my eye. And, I was not disappointed.

Art Events From Quincy and Yakima to Leavenworth and Wenatchee

Well, there’s a lot going on in the arts in the valley and beyond. Just last week was the grand opening for the new Library in Quincy http://www.wenatcheeworld.com/photos/2011/dec/14/110114/which is featuring art by many artists in the area. Sadly due to illness and the weather we did not make it out to the opening, which I feel a great loss for not having been there. I really wanted to photograph the event and see and enjoy the art by all the artists featured there. As soon as I do get out ...

First Friday January 2012... Perfect!

What a delight to the eyes was the first First Friday of 2012. I began my art journey with a visit to the new still in development gallery of Lila Putnum. For years she was displaying her art at the solon just outside her new digs. While I was there she and her daughter were busily putting up the show for the throngs of First Friday visitors that hopefully found her place on Columbia Street just across from both the train station and bus depot. I really felt remiss in ...

Warm Colors, Intense Emotion, Raku Boxes and Bronze Sculptures

Well, the year ended much as it began and as it was lived for art and artists in the valley and beyond.Image Much of the last two days of the year were spent for many local artists in the process of changing out art and preparing for the January shows and First Friday events at local galleries.
