Bar association earns state award for generosity

We received word of some good news about our local Chelan-Douglas Bar Association. They're going to receive the Rainier Cup for having the highest participation in the state for supporting the Law Fund Campaign for Equal Justice. More than 60 percent of attorneys and all of our judges contributed to the fund.

The total amount contributed is more than double what the association gave in 2012, according to Christina Davitt, who's president of the board for Voluntary Attorney Services, the local program that provides assistance to low-income individuals in civil legal matters.

On February 21, the Legal Foundation of Washington will present the award to bar association president John Brangwin and Davitt.  "I'm so grateful to live here where lawyers serve their community and create community connections through their generosity," Davitt wrote in an email.

It's one more reason to appreciate living in North Central Washington.
