Since the world ends Friday, we might as well indulge our guilty pleasures, right? How could it hurt?
That’s the reasoning of Dave Whitman, owner of Sticks House of Cigars in Wenatchee, who’s planning a “Mayan End of the World and Winter Solstice Light ’Em Up Party” starting at around 12:21 p.m. (get it?) and going till … well, who knows? The end is near.
“Thought all of the cigar-loving folks in the area might want to join together for a last cigar,” Whitman said. “If we’re all going up in smoke, what better way to note the occasion?”
The Mayan calendar, in use for millennia, technically ends on Friday. Doomsday proponents predict it’s the end of the world; others, unworried, are finishing their Christmas shopping.
Whitman is encouraging participants to enjoy a Rocky Patel 50, normally costing 20 bucks or more, but on sale Friday for a world-shattering $12.21. He’s also asking that folks gather together on the smoking patio to puff their last and greet the End Times.
