It’ll soon be easier to get your Starbucks fix when a snazzy new outlet for America’s most popular coffee joint opens in East Wenatchee’s Fred Meyer.
“It’s part of our ongoing efforts to offer one-stop shopping to our customers,” said Store Director Dan Gwynne. “Starbucks has proven very popular in other Fred Meyer stores around the state.”
The new Starbucks — not a company-owned store, but an owner-operator outlet common in big grocery stores — is set to steam its first latte on Sept. 2. Employee training to brew the perfect Starbucks cup o’ joe starts next week.
If you’re keeping count, this’ll be the eighth Starbucks location in the Wenatchee Valley — two stand-alone stores in Wenatchee, one in East Wenatchee and one in Leavenworth, plus locations in all three cities’ Safeway stores. East Wenatchee lost a Starbucks shop when Top Foods closed in 2011.
The addition of Starbucks is part of a larger round of improvements underway now at East Wenatchee’s Fred Meyer store that includes expansion of the food department, lots of new signs, more energy-efficient lighting and sleeker display cases.
