If you’re in the mood for three or four hours of round-n-round zoom-zoom, then head for Gateway Cinema on Sunday to view the Daytona 500 (that’s a car race) on the big screen in their VIP Lounge.
The doors open at 9:30 a.m., and admission is free. That’s also when they’ll begin serving biscuits and gravy — you know, that traditional Southern-style breakfast that gets your engine revved. The race starts around 10 a.m. with driver Danica Patrick (in photo) in the pole position. It's the first time a woman has won the lead spot for NASCAR's most prestigious race.
Not only is the digital image projected on a huge movie screen, but the theater also boasts luxury seats, a wait staff and full menu with, yep, beer and wine. (21 and older only.) Good Ol’ Boy tip: Two or three platters of biscuits and gravy can gum up the works unless you chase ’em with an ice-cold beer.
