Longtime Wenatchee orchardists Tim and Alice Meyer have taken the retail leap with their snazzy new Hilltop Harvest Barn, a roadside store in Quincy that sells local fruit and a bunch of other products made in the region.
“One of our orchards fronted the highway, so we thought, ‘Heck, let’s do it,’” said Tim. “It’s been a fun adventure so far.”
The hilltop mentioned in the store’s name is that long climb (heading east) on Highway 28 right before the Quincy Rest Area. At the crest of the slope, you’ll see the new store on the left.
What you might not notice from the road is that the store, which opened in May, is chock-full of local, seasonal fruit and fruit products. It also carries Quincy wines (yep, only Quincy wines), farm fresh eggs, a few regional beers, Aplets & Cotlets, Little River toffee-covered popcorn and other snacks.
Two must-try products:
• Winegars Homemade Ice Cream, made in Ellensburg and boasting exotic flavors that include amaretto with black cherries and chocolate chips, cheesecake with blueberry swirl, coconut with brownies and caramel, maple with chocolate chip and mint flakes. Well, you get the idea — yummy.
• Quench Body Products, based in Quincy, produces soaps, scrubs, lotions and butters and other goodies that keep the skin moisturized. Such as, Coconut Lime Tussah Silk & Shea Butter Soap.
“We’ve tried to find the best of the best when it comes to local products,” said Tim. “We think customers will be pleased when they discover us on the hill.”
