Jerri Barkley wants to tell you things. You know — where to go, what to do, how to get there.

That’s why she’s the perfect choice as new marketing and communications coordinator for the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce, said Chamber Executive Director Shiloh Schauer.

Barkley was hired for the job Wednesday from a handful of qualified applicants and will start her new duties March 18. She’ll be in charge of creating marketing campaigns, guiding marketing strategies and tracking the results of tourism promotions.

“Jerri’s community involvement combined with her extensive background in destination marketing and hospitality were deciding factors,” said Schauer. For 10 years, Barkley was marketing director for Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort but resigned last year in a management shakeup at the ski facility.

Barkley’s “diverse experience in all areas of marketing, public relations and social media will help us create a comprehensive and focused destination marketing campaign,” the Chamber director said.

A new tourism campaign is one of the Chamber’s top priorities for 2013.
