Things are getting fancy-schmancy over at J.C. Penney in Wenatchee’s Valley North Center.

On May 2, the venerable retailer will open a Sephora store — yep, that’s the ooh-la-la French cosmetic company — and it’ll be one of the largest such outlets inside any J.C. Penney in the state. It’ll measure 2,200 square feet, or about the size of your average house, and provide jobs for up to seven new employees.

You know Sephora, right? (That’s where all of us chubby-but-stylish bloggers buy our Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Primer Potion samplers.) The company has about 1,800 stores around the world with 476 of them in J.C. Penneys around the country. They sell all kinds of stuff to make you look better, smell sweeter and be cleaner. We can already think of several people worthy of a gift card to the place.

Speaking of gift cards … on Wenatchee Sephora’s opening day, the first 100 customers will receive gift cards with mystery values up to $100. Sephora will also give away 750 gift bags stuffed with samples. And, of course, you’ll be able to just walk around and sniff. The new Wenatchee store will stock over 50 brands and offer advice on how to use ’em.
