Wenatchee Snow Globe

A few people have asked me how I created this image for a Business World cover about the winter economy of Wenatchee.

I bought the globe at a local hardware store, first thinking I would have to cut it in half and take it down to the sign, shooting a photograph through it. I decided to take a photograph of the globe before splitting it in two pieces just in case that didn't work.

Before I started cutting it, and thinking it would be cool to have the globe, all of it, for my desk, I remembered that former staff photographer Kelly Gillin had made a really nice image of the sign years before. I found that in our archives.

And after sizing the two image files correctly, I just cloned the sign into the globe picture, combining them.

I did a google search to find a method of adding a blizzard and came up with the final image.
