I was at Wenatchee High School a month ago and saw a poster up on a wall promoting the first meeting of a group of paintball enthusiasts. I made a quick photo of the poster and called the teacher/adviser, finding out there was a first tournament planned for the weekend I was scheduled to work. A quick call to the lead student and I was set for a morning of fun.

There was a layer of snow on the ground but 18 people, mostly adults, showed up to form two teams and fire at each other. I wore an orange vest and made sure I was off limits in the contest (although I received two indirect hits that left goo on my coat).

It was a pretty easy narrative to shoot with a start and finish to the story.

And the snow was a blessing to be able to distinguish all of the clothing with the background.

I didn't get a really good action photograph until two went at it with a duel of sorts. I think the paintball bounced off her clothing as I didn't see a splatter there afterward. And the cold weather made the gas show up really well.

I was impressed at how much fun everyone was having, even after the contests.
