Dinner tonight: I prepared some lamb chops and had to decide on a wine. Several years ago my other half gave me Chateau Faire le Pont 2003 Elerding Cab Sauv for my birthday because I had liked it so much. We enjoyed it over the next few years, but saved some. Watching it develop is one of the pleasures of aging a good wine. This one aged well.
I'd like to tell the winery that we had a bad bottle of '03 Elerding Cab so we could get another, but alas, my Midwestern upbringing precludes dishonesty.
We are drinking that wine and have but one left. So sad. It is phenomenal. With wonderful aromas of leather and a hint of anise, and a touch of Prince Albert, it rolls over my tongue, delighting my senses. I usually think I prefer young wines until I smell and taste something like this, the perfect accompaniment to our lamb and our bazillionth viewing of Pretty Woman.
The Faire le Pont '03 Elerding Cab is a sexy wine, and pairs well with a movie like Pretty Woman.
