We Have a Garden!

I am so excited! We have a garden! If you know me, you know that I have extensive gardens all around our home, yet I don't grow vegetables or certain flowers. We don't live alone out here. Over 20 years ago we intruded into a deer habitat. They graciously allowed us to stay, but showed a decided preference for some of my plantings, so I grow many perennials which the deer find distasteful. They still tour the gardens in the night and early morning hours, admiring (I like to think) but not eating. Now, thanks to the new E. Lorene Young Leavenworth Community Garden at 12th and Commercial St., I will have a deer-proof spot where I can grow a few vegetables. Check it out. It's a great thing
