  • Royalty
On my first day of work this week, I had one of my favorite assignments of the year - photographing the Apple Blossom queen for part of the day. It's a chance to show our readers some behind - the - scenes looks at the queen's life in her duties as queen and in her off times. Roslyn Thompson was comfortable in front of my camera and it didn't take long for her to be able to go about being queen without paying any attention to me. The photographs will publish later this month but here's one interesting photograph of her looking through her little book of etiquette as she and the princesses teach the junior royalty how to eat. I kind of like the finger pointing going on in the background - I thought it was not good to point?
  • Faced with hair
I was able to squeeze shooting a tennis match while covering the queen story and liked a few of the out of the ordinary photographs from the match. Here's one we used with Eastmont's Lilly Waterhouse's hair whipping her face.
  • Focus1
I actually like these next two oddly focused photographs. First, the focus on the net yet you can see in the background Waterhouse hitting the ball on her racket.
  • Focus2
And then this unique picture focused on the ball as it is coming toward me from Wenatchee's Cameron Mandelis. It's pure chance. My camera can't focus on a tennis ball coming at me.
