A fresh take on fast food

Beyond the classroom

School is just around the corner for most districts now. Wenatchee, Eastmont, and most of the other schools in the area kick off the new year on Aug. 30. Here is a scramble of some different aspects of school life for kids that is not directly related to sitting at a desk and taking notes - but in some ways it is just as important.

What were they thinking?

Sometimes you wonder, or at least I do, at some of the unusual sports names out there. We have one right in town - the Applesox. It's familiar to us, but if you think about it, it's different. Original. The Walla Walla Sweets and the Bellingham Bells are a couple others. While most of them have some sort of a connection to the area, some of them are just plain random. Here is a look at a few of the oddest names out there in collegiate-level summer league baseball.

Search and rescue

At one point, many of us will be out in the wilderness in less than fair conditions. Search and rescue teams are extremely important in finding people that are either lost or trapped and getting them out of dangerous environments.
