Dulcimers, Luthiers, Heidi's Good Road and All Things Musical

Well, today I’m feeling rather musical, or at least musically inspired. I am thinking not only of the art of making music, but the art of making musical instruments. I began thinking about instruments and inspired to write of them when I heard of the upcoming presentation of Heidi Muller and Bob Webb by Icicle Arts coming up on December 9th. Muller and Webb will be performing at the Leavenworth Community Coffeehouse playing holiday and winter solstice songs from their new holiday/solstice album,’ Light the Winter’s Dark’, in addition to ...

First Friday, Stepping Up, Stepping Out and a Fine Tme Out On The Town

Well, another First Friday has come and gone, and what an enjoyable evening it was. For Martha Flores and I the evening really underscored some of the best qualities and benefits of living in this wonderful valley. The convenience of being able to shop for hors d’ oeuvres for our Home Art Sale this weekend before heading to an office party at the 434 Orondo Counseling Center… meeting there with not only our close friends and co-workers but to met an artist new to us by the name of Cameron ...

Art Gift Giving Opportunities Abound

Well, it’s that time again. First Friday is upon us and to make things even better it is First Friday of December, which means that there are plenty-o-opportunities to get great art for gifts. First off, right here in town on Friday night ten downtown Wenatchee venues will be participating in the First Friday art walk and at each, you’ll have a chance to win tickets to the coming Mannheim Steamroller concert! I’m told that art walkers can fill out a chance ticket at each location, thereby maximizing their chances ...

Richard Caemmere Art show Opening and Reception

Well, last night was quite the show at the Icicle Arts Gallery at 347 Division Street in Leavenworth. The Opening and Reception for Richard R. Caemmerer’s “Finding the Cosmos at Our Feet” which will be on display through December 15 was quite a hit. The exhibit features what has been described as “bold expressive original oil paintings inspired by the natural beauty and inspiration of Plain.” Managing Director Anna Miller and Curatorial & Exhibit Coordinator Bryan Miller did an excellent job in hosting the free reception in Richard’s honor at ...

The Beat Goes On With Yuri Konyshev, Fantastic Artist and Musician Too

Well, last night’s Second Saturday opening and reception for Yuri Konyshev was a resounding success. Some folks came, left for dinner and came back for more art and socializing. Others came and stayed all the way through till the doors were closed. Some art was purchased even before the installation was complete… so I’m sure this will be a very successful show over the next two months.

Art From Nature, Getty Images, Video at the Museum and Making the Rounds on First Friday

Well, yesterday was quite the busy day for art in the valley. Here at home for me the day started with putting together a little movie of the 5th! grade kids at the park making art from natural found objects at the river followed by a very special experience for them... that, being tutored in the bronze sculpture making process by none other than the phenomenal sculptor Kevin Patel. What a treat that was for the kids and for me to get to video. The video shot was for in ...

Fantastic Art from Used Materials, Classes, Workshops and Finding Your Own Creativity

Well, there’s plenty going on this week in the arts in the valley and beyond. First off I am so happy to announce that a limited selection of Martha Flores prints is now being carried by the NuART Gallery in East Wenatchee. The pieces really stand out there and there are even a handful of original watercolors by Martha there as well. They really look great and should do well there.

Saving the Earth with Recycled Art, Robert Grave in Person and a Whale of a Good time at the Gallery

Well, it was a wonderful art filled day on the First Friday of September. For me the morning started with putting out a blog on my other blog and then I headed out to Leavenworth, where I met up with Brian and Anna Miller at the Icicle Arts Gallery (after a beautiful bike ride around the valley).

Icicle Prize and First Friday, New Art and Another Bike Mural

Well, I am happy and a little bit proud to say that the recycled art project that Martha and I submitted to this year’s Icicle Prize was accepted and is on display at O’Grady’s Pantry at the Sleeping Lady Resort near Leavenworth. There are a bunch of other great pieces by the other artists there as well. It looks like pretty stiff competition. So, we’ll see how we do.

Bicycle First Friday, Food and Art at the Museum and the Sea Fair Extravaganza

Well, I have to say that the First Friday Bike Tour was a quite a success and all the rage in downtown Wenatchee last Friday night. I for one was so glad that the guys at Second Wind were able to solve the recurrent problem I was having with my bike; so I could do the ride on my own bike and take the photos and video from my bike that I used to make a movie which can be seen on Youtube at: &feature=channel_video_title

Great Talents Abound and Great shows coming Up

Welcome to August, and it’s time to prepare for First Friday in Wenatchee, change out art at various locations and install the Charles Collins art work arriving from Taos, New Mexico … hopefully it arrives today. But, before I say anything else, I want to offer a well deserved congratulations to local artist Wendy Allan, who won the Yakima Ambulatory Surgical Center Award for her photo: “Giving Back”, at the 44th Annual Juried Art Exhibition for the Allied Arts of Yakima Valley.
