65th Panther Homecoming game Thursday

FOOTBALL (0-1, 1-4)Thursday, Eisenhower (0-1, 2-3) homecoming.* This will be the 54th contest between the Panthers and Cadets since the two first played in 1964.  They did not play in 1965, but then played every fall for 42 years in a row through 2007, missed a couple years and resumed games in 2010.* Last week the Cadets lost a league game to Moses Lake 35-7.  They are 2-2 in nonleague games – wins over Pasco and Mercer Island and losses to Jackson (Mill Creek) and Cheney.* The Panthers lead the ...

VOLLEYBALL (0-0-, 5-3)Wednesday, Big Bend (0-6) away.* Wenatchee Valley heads to Moses Lake today to open East Region play against Big Bend.* Against the Vikings the Knights have done quite well, going 19-4 since first playing in 2007.  WVC leads 8-1 at BB.* A year ago these two clashed five times with the Apple Capital bunch taking the final four.

Season underway, all Panther teams in action this week

GIRLS SOCCER (1-0)Tuesday, Ellensburg (0-0) home.* There is some history here as the first game ever for the Panther soccer program was against the Bulldogs, a 1-1 tie at home.* The two met again in 1990 in Wenatchee with the hosts winning 5-0.* Ellensburg is a 2A school and a member of the 10- team Central Washington Athletic Conference.* Last season EHS won 18 games before losing in the 2A state semifinals.  Eight starters from that squad graduated and only three return.* In home openers Wenatchee is 16-12-2, but has ...

The 71st season of intercollegiate sports for Wenatchee Valley College is under way.  Both soccer teams and volleyball kicked off the year last weekend.  And a pretty decent start it was with the three combining for a 7-3-1 record.
