WVC basketball games at home on holiday Monday

WOMENS BASKETBALL (0-2, 5-8)Wednesday, Walla Walla (0-1, 7-3) away.* May the good times roll.  The Knights hope that is the case.  After dropping 21 of 24 to Walla Walla, Wenatchee Valley has come back to win three in a row and two of those were in WW.* WVC continues to lead the series, but their 24-game lead after the 2001-02 season is now down to nine at 51-42 * The Warriors opened region play with a 63-53 loss to Spokane, and have dropped three of their last four.

WOMENS BASKETBALL (5-5)Thursday, Douglas, B.C. Year ends: WHS hoops teams at Hanford for two apiece, wrestling at Eastmont

GIRLS BASKETBALL (2-1, 7-2)Tuesday, Pasco (0-2, 2-4) at Hanford.* It’s Panthers vs. Bulldogs on the Falcons’ court.  Wenatchee will take on Pasco for the first time in seven years today when they meet in Richland at Hanford High.* This will be Game 77 between the two with the Purple and White holding a 46-30 advantage over the Purple and Gold.* The Panthers have a 2-game win streak with resounding 26 and 35-point wins in 2009-10.

A basketball bonanza Thursday and Friday at the Town Toyota Center as 14 teams from 3A and 4A schools invade the place for 14 games…eight boys and six girls.  Boys teams are Cascade (Everett), Eastmont, Eisenhower, Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, Mead, Moses Lake and Wenatchee, and for the girls Camas, Eastmont, Everett, Lynnwood, Moses Lake and Wenatchee.

WVC women - three home games in three days

MENS BASKETBALL (1-5)The fellas will have to update their GPS for this week’s competition.  They are off to Coos Bay for only the second time in history, the first being 21 years ago in December 1995.  This little foray is a mere 523 miles (Google Maps via I-90 and I-5), but fortunately they get a trio of games in when finally reaching their destination, the Southwestern Oregon Crossover.

Knight teams in Lakewood and Edmonds for weekend

WOMENS BASKETBALL (2-3)Friday, Bellevue (2-2) at Pierce Holiday Invitational.* A weekend in Lakewood awaits the Knights as they participate in the 8-team Pierce Holiday Invite.* Wenatchee Valley opens with Bellevue in the first game of the day at 2 o’clock.* WVC has faced the Bulldogs 27 times and left the court as winners in 21 of those.* Last winter the Black and Silver dropped BC 71-43 in the NWAC tourney.* Other teams in the event are Columbia Basin, Clackamas, Lane, Peninsula, Pierce and Walla Walla.

WHS hoops begin, girls home tonight, boys Friday

GIRLS BASKETBALLPatrick Loftus is the new coach of the Panthers as the WHS hoops program begins its 44th season.  Loftus is the 11th person to serve as coach.  Tuesday, Richland home.* The young ladies open their 20-game regular season with a home game tonight against Richland.* Since 1975-76 the Panthers and Bombers have played 85 times with the latter leading in wins 58 to 27 overall and 25-15 in the local gymnasium.* The pair played last season in Richland with the host winning to break a 4-game Wenatchee win streak ...

Knight men in Pierce tourney this weekend

MENS BASKETBALL (0-1)Friday, Saturday, Sunday at Pierce.* The Knights will spend the weekend in Lakewood at the Raider Thanksgiving Invitational.* WVC opens play Friday vs. the host school, Pierce (1-0)…a win over Clark 89-74.* WVC’s history with PCC goes back to 1969-70.  In 32 meetings the Knights hold a 20-12 advantage.  Pierce is up 7-8 at their place.* A season ago the pair met twice and each had a win.* Teams in the tourney in addition of WVC and PCC are Bellevue, Columbia Basin, Clackamas, Green River, Linn-Benton and Whatcom.

District: girls swimming wins, girls soccer playing for title, volleyball trying to get in

VOLLEYBALL (8-4, 16-7)Tuesday, Play-in Game, Davis (2-10, 2-12) home.* Wenatchee finished the season in a tie with Eastmont for second place, each with 8-4 marks.  Due to a tiebreaking procedure Eastmont got the second seed and goes directly to district, while the Panthers have to win one more time to punch their district ticket.* As the third seed WHS hosts sixth seed Davis today with the winner advancing to the 4-team district tourney Saturday at West Valley.  To earn a trip to Kennewick and the state tourney Wenatchee would have ...

Both soccer teams close out the regular season by visiting the Evergreen State’s neighbors.  Today both squads will be in the Beaver State, but at different locations, and Saturday the two visit the Gem State.
