Panthers, Wildcats meet on gridiron for 47th time

GIRLS SOCCER (4-1, 6-2-1)Tuesday, Moses Lake (4-1, 5-4) home.- A big one.  The Panthers and Chiefs are each 4-1 and tied for second, one game behind West Valley.- The one loss WHS and MLHS each have was to the Rams, WHS lost 2-0 and MLHS 4-0.- Wenatchee leads the series with Moses Lake 30-13, but it used to be 30-3…the Chiefs taking the last 10.

Two soccer games at WVC today beginning at 2 o'clock

MENS SOCCER (2-3, 4-3)Wednesday, Walla Walla (3-0-2, 5-0-4) home.- Today the Knights take on first-place, undefeated Walla Walla right here at home.- On the 12th the Warriors edged the Knights 4-3 in Walla Walla.- This game begins the second round of three through the East Region schedule (five games per round, one against each foe).- Overall WWCC leads WVC 16-10-8 and is 7-5-4 in the Apple Capital.- The last Knight victory was 2010. Since WW has won six and there have been three ties.

Football, Panthers have won 14 straight league games...first CBBN game Friday

FOOTBALL (1-2)Friday, Davis (1-2) away.- This the first of six league games.- Davis has been by far Wenatchee’s most frequent opponent.  Starting in 1923 the schools have played 83 times. Both Knight socceer teams in home openers today

WOMENS SOCCER (0-1, 1-2)Wednesday, Spokane (1-0, 4-0-1) home.- Series started in 1997 and Spokane leads 30-5-1 and is 14-4 on the local field.- The Sasquatch has a 13-game win streak with the last WVC victory in 2008.- Today is the first of eight home games.  In home openers the Knights are 8-9-1 and it is the first time facing the Sasquatch.

All six Panther teams in action this week

VOLLEYBALLWenatchee High School begins their 40th year of volleyball this week, and Emily McLean is back for her second year as coach.  Last fall the Panthers were 6-6 in the CBBN and placed fourth, and overall were 9-12.

108th year of WHS football, 30th year of girls soccer begin Friday

FOOTBALLFriday begins the 108th year of Panther football.  The pigskin sport started in 1905 when WHS hosted Leavenworth and defeated them 38-0 on November 4.  There was no program in 1916, ’17 and ’18 during World War I.  In that very first year WHS had a 2-game schedule, Leavenworth and then the second team from Seattle’s Broadway High School and lost 6-0.  In 2015 the Panthers have 9-game schedule that begins with three nonleague contests and then moves on to six CBBN games.
