Why you should nominate a Jefferson Award candidate

A year ago, Mariachi Huenachi's Ramon Rivera was nominated for the state Jefferson Award and was one of five winners. River said getting the award has changed his life and created tremendous momentum for the music and educational empowerment program that he directs at the Wenatchee School District.

Freddy Robinson brings unique perspective to "Lincoln Live" role

When the “Lincoln Live” scholarship event opens at 7 p.m. Thursday night at the Grove Recital Hall at Wenatchee Valley College, the community will have a chance to get acquainted with Freddy Robinson, a transplant to our region who has a diverse background in film and literature. Robinson is the show’s co-director with Sherry Schreck and plays the part of abolitionist Frederick Douglass.

An Apple A Day | Parallel end-of-life conversations happening in Wenatchee

Honoring Choices Pacific Northwest (honoringchoicespnw.org) provides guidance for deciding how you want those last months, weeks and days to go, and the tools to enable you to discuss those wishes with your family. Several healthcare facilities in Wenatchee have a parallel program in which doctors and nurses are initiating these same conversations with their patients.

The Washington State Hospital Association and Washington State Medical Association launched "Honoring Choices Pacific Northwest." A website, HonoringChoicesPNW.org has resources designed to help people have conversations about what medical services they want — and what they don't want — when they're getting ready to die.
