The Rocketz-The Show

It was a short notice show for me but I made a last minute road trip to see "The Rocketz" as they stopped by The Broadway Bar And Grill in Moses Lake on their way to Boise as they start out on the first part of their 2013 tour. I had seen them before so I knew it would be a good show.

"The Rocketz", from Los Angeles, were founded in 2004 by guitarist and vocalist Tony Slash, bassists David Guzman and drummer Andrew Martinez. Unfortunately, Andrew died in 2009 and Tony's son Anthony Drinkwater took over the drumming duties. There is a fourth member playing a second guitar on this tour and I apologize but I don't remember his name. The band currently has two albums out, "Rise Of The Undead" in 2005 and "We Are" in 2009 with a yet unnamed new album due out later this year.

Half of their 60 minute set consisted of new material while the other half was filled with old favorites. They were to play longer but at one point when they were going to start another song, one of the promoters approached Tony then Tony stated "I guess we're done". The show got shut down for some reason, never heard why. Guess you can't rock out after 9:30pm on a Sunday night in Moses Lake.

The following video's are the last two songs of the night prior to the shut down. Both are off the first album with the first "Killing" and the second "Police On My Back". The video's are a bit grainy due to a lightening process as the venue has no stage lighting and it was a bit dark.

Though the crowd was small, a good time was had and I'd like to thank "Sickboy Booking" for bringing in "The Rocketz", just an awesome band. And of course another plus to my little punker shows, I got to meet Tony Slash......sweet.
