Psychobilly is coming to El Corazon this Friday the 14th. as old timer psychobilly band "Nekromantix" stop by Seattle in the midst of their 2013 U.S tour. Originally founded in Copenhagen Denmark back in 1989 but now based in L.A., the three piece band consist of orginal founder, upright bassists and lead vocalist Kim Nekroman. Nekroman is also known for his guitar work with his other band "Horrorpops".
After numerous band mates, the current line up along with Nekroman are, guitarist Francisco Mesa with the band since 2008 and newest member Lux on drums who joined the band in 2009 after the untimely death of drummer Andrew Martinez (also drummer for The Rocketz).
The band has produced eight studio LP's with their latest being "What Happens In Hell, Stays In Hell" released in 2011.
The following video is a live take of "Gargoyles Over Copenhagen" from their 2002 release "Return Of The Loving Dead".
Touring with "Nekromantix" is another psychobilly band "The Silver Shine". They are a three piece hailing from Budapest Hungary where they formed in 2004. After a few changes, the current line up consists of Ati Edge on guitar and vocals, Krista Kat on upright bass and vocals and Furo on drums.
The band has released seven albums over the years and tours quite heavily with the current tour being in support of their latest album "In The Middle Of Nowhere" being released in April of this year.
The following video is a live take from an older release but I don't know the name of the song.
One of the local openers for the show is "Angie And The Car Wrecks" a Seattle area psychobilly style band that has played the Wenatchee valley a few times. The band, some what of a family affair, consists of Dale Ball on guitar, Dale's wife Angie on guitar and vocals, Dale's brother Skwerll on upright bass and family friend Dustin Beck on drums.
The following video "Moonshine" was takin' when they played The Clearwater a while back.
As a bonus, immediately following the "Nekromantix" show there is to be an after show party in the lounge featuring "The Akabane Vulgars On Strong Bypass". This is a three piece female band from Tokyo, Japan with founder Miki Uchizono on bass and backing vocals, her sister Yumi on guitar and lead vocals and Kei Sofue on drums and backing vocals.
They have just released their second album "Proclamation" and are currently on tour in it's support. Their tour is not with "Nekromantix", they just both happened to hit Seattle on the same date and joined forces for a show.
The following video was taken during their last tour. The song is a live take of "Fallen Dublin" which is off of their latest album.
Tickets for this show are just $14 and while the main Nekromantix show is all ages, the after show party in the lounge is 21+....sorry kiddies.
I do believe there is a road trip in my future.
