A few nights ago I hiked the Homestead Trail at the top of Horse Lake road, nearing the highpoint I saw silhouetted against the darkening sky I saw the deer.
The deer stayed for a bit as I hiked towards them but they got wary of me and disappeared from the ridge line.
Hiking in the dark is not as bad as it seems. I was wearing a headlamp and carried extra batteries just in case. I only fell once and that was because I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings...but it did cost me a pair of glasses and a minor scrape above the eye.
