The Levelers – A Female Impersonators Show

Holy Glamorous Drag Performances, Myrtle! The Drag Show at Club Level is not to be missed!

The last Wednesday of every month, you will find a rockin’, sequined, rhinestoned, and fiercely-coiffed Splendor* of Drag Queens and the rarely sighted Fedora-Crested Drag Kings, right here in Wenatchee. If you’ve been to a drag revue, you know how fun it is to watch these performers strut their stuff while lip-synching to songs both old and new. If you’ve never seen a drag show, oh honey, have you got a great experience waiting for you!

The beautiful and magnetic Connie Hung was the hostess of the show and did a great job making it fun and introducing the acts. The Levelers range from first-timers to “That’s good enough for Vegas, baby!” The dazzling beauties Mimosa Dior, Hurricane Feroce and Freedom Rights brought the heat with sultry ballads and pounding rock. Melba Jean owned the stage mixing humor and sexy…more please! Lady Vajayjay charmed with her disarming sweetness and lovely spirit. And don’t forget the kings—Stud Muffin and Walkin Cojones were amazing and brought the cool, while Daddy Long Schlong (I think in his debut performance) energized the room with hard rock and dance.

The audience participates, claps along to the music, tempts the performers over with tips, and howls and whistles throughout the show. Sit right up front if you dare, or try to hide in the back; it doesn’t matter because these ladies and gentlemen will come off the stage and find you!

Heads up for the newcomers: this is real live theatre. I’ve been to well-rehearsed musicals that were less fun to sit through than the show at Club Level. Be forewarned, though: if you are anything but respectful to the performers, you will be bounced (or stomped with a spike-heeled shoe)! With that in mind, feel free to flirt with them, tip them generously, and buy them drinks.

I have not seen a lot of advertising for the show, but word is getting around. Admission to the 9:00 show was only $3. Yeah, that’s right THREE DOLLARS, folks, for an hour of live, rowdy, in-your-face fun. Shows are at Club Level, 27 S. Chelan Ave, Wenatchee, 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM. Rumor has it that the 11:00 PM show is more risqué. Next time, I’m staying for both.

  • I don’t know the plural term for a group of female impersonators, so I made one up. Also, huge thanks to Nicole Villacres for adding info and edits to this post!
