Local wineries showed they can hang with the big guns when it comes to the king of wines.
Several North Central Washington wineries were rated Outstanding, Excellent or Recommended in a January judging of 139 Northwest Cabernet Sauvignons by Wine Press Northwest. The Tri-Cities-based wine magazine recently announced the competition's winners.
The local wines were competing with the likes of cabs from Leonetti Cellars, Woodward Canyon, Ste. Michelle, Columbia Crest and others that have ranked among the best in the world.
Local Cabernet Sauvignon's rated Outstanding" included:
