The Wenatchee Central Lions 16th Annual All-Star Basketball Tournament was held March 16 at Wenatchee High School. Here's a recap of the event, sent in to us by Craig Field of the Lions Club All-Star Basketball Committee:

"The All-Star Basketball (Games) took place Saturday, March 16, at Wenatchee High School. These all-star basketball games showcase athletes from North Central Washington. (We) had 19 girls from Eastmont, Brewster, Cashmere, Manson, Lake Roosevelt, Oroville, Chelan, Moses Lake Christian, Quincy, Cascade and Okanogan. The girls' 3-point contest was won by Callie Barker from Oroville, and the score for the girls' game was Laura Mounter Real Estate 63 to Wenatchee Valley Medical Center 67, with Kylie Buterbaugh from Eastmont making the only 4-point shot of the game. "(We) had 21 boys from Wenatchee, Eastmont, Moses Lake, Ephrata, Cascade, Waterville, Quincy, Soap Lake, Bridgeport, Cashmere, Chelan, Okanogan and Oroville. The boys' 3-point contest was won by Jordan Christensen from Cashmere, and the score for the boys' game was Farmers Insurance 70 to Hooked on Toys 95, with Jordan Christensen and Connor Hughes making a 4-point shot for each of them. "There were six scholarships awarded during these games. The first was $500 presented to two students from the Chelan County Officials Association and Wenatchee Central Lions. These scholarship winners were Alex Hopkins from Wenatchee High School and Kelsey Graham from Cascade High School. Congratulations to both of you. "The other four scholarships are donated from Valley Tractor and Wenatchee Central Lions (and are awarded to the) players of the games. The winners of these scholarships receive $200, and they were Kylie Buterbaugh from Eastmont, Becky Mae Taylor from Brewster, Dennis Ulyanchuk from Moses Lake and Jordan Christensen from Cashmere. "Something else exciting happened at the all-star game. For the first time in 16 years, Wenatchee Valley College was able to sign letter of intents with three players from the game. The boys were Jacob Durfee from Quincy, JJ Jahr from Eastmont and Austin Chandler from Wenatchee. "Thank you to all for the support and congratulations to all our players."
