The Worm: Safeway responds! New mini carts arrive

Has anyone noticed the new fleet of mini, black shopping carts that arrived about a week ago at the Wenatchee Safeway?

It’s true. A way-home-from-work visit to the store last week revealed dozens of the new carts prowling the aisles, each pushed by an overjoyed-and-thankful-looking customer.

Now, this could be purely coincidence, but these new grocery movers appeared on the scene less than a month after your Worm expounded in print on the scarsity and deplorable condition of the existing mini carts — and the unique challenge faced by that store of keeping the carts on the premises.

So, it doesn’t matter which came first, the Worm column or the store’s call to action; the boneless chicken breast or the dozen Grade AA eggs.

What really matters is that these new mini carts are now on the job. And they have cup holders. A nice touch.
