Upgrades always result in something lost.
At Grant Elementary School, it’s a piece of history that school officials would like to reclaim. Teachers were excited when they began remodel work on the old East Wenatchee school this year. In addition to modernizing the school, they hoped to dig up a relic of the past. A time capsule that included contributions of students and teachers had been buried in the 1980s during a previous school remodel.
Spencer Taylor, Grant principal, said he was told by previous school employees that the time capsule was buried beneath a boat that sat next to the school’s flagpole. “We excavated all around there but couldn’t find it. We’re hoping someone out there knows something about it and can help us find it,” he said.
