The Wenatchee World website uses Disqus for its commenting system. Disqus is used by hundreds of websites large and small, including CNN, Bloomberg and Wired. Over one-half billion unique commenters use Disqus every month. If you've commented before on any of those sites, you already have a Disqus account and can start commenting on The Wenatchee World right away!
For those of you new to Disqus, here are a few helpful tips:
How do I create a Disqus Login? You can easily register a login account with Disqus right where comments appear on a page. Simply click the box labeled "Leave a message...", enter your name, email and password in the form which appears, then click the arrow to submit. (NOTE: Please be sure to enter your first and last name; it's encouraged by our site's policies.) After registering, you'll receive a confirmation email with a link. Click the link to confirm that an account for your email address wasn't created by mistake.
Disqus also offers several social login options (Google, Twitter, and Facebook), which allow you to create a Disqus account connected to one of these services.
More information about creating a Disqus login account is available on the Disqus support website at http://help.disqus.com/customer/portal/articles/916896.
I didn't enter my full name when I registered. How do I add it to my Disqus account?
Currently, site policies encourage you to show your real full name before you can participate in our online discussions. Here's how to add your name:
1 — In the comment section below a story, click on the gear symbol.
2 — Click on "Edit Settings." You'll get an "edit your profile box."
3 — Click on "Profile."
5 — Add your real full name — and any other information you want.
6 — Scroll to the bottom of the box and click on "save changes."
How do I reset my password?
If you've forgotten your password, click "Forgot password?" on the signin window, or go to https://disqus.com/forgot/ where you can request a password change.
How come my comment isn't appearing?
If you've been able to successfully post a comment but you're not seeing it online, there are a few reasons why that could be happening.
- You've yet to verify your email address. When you first registered, you should have received an email with a link to verify your new account. Without that verification, your comments are temporarily hidden pending approval. Check your spam folder if you don't remember receiving that confirmation email.
- Your comment was flagged by other users. If other users flag your comment as inappropriate, it may be hidden until a moderator is able to view it. If the moderator deems that the comment falls within what is allowed by site policies, it will be restored.
- Your comment is still in the moderation queue. All comments appearing on wenatcheeworld.com are checked for compliance with site policies. On evenings and weekends, this process may take longer than usual.
Disqus: you've got lots of options!
Commenting is just one of many options available to users like you of the Disqus system. For example, you can share comments on Twitter or Facebook, or follow other commenters and receive email notifications when they post new comments.
