This free event is organized by volunteers from Intermountain AmeriCorps and sponsored by the Okanogan County Community Action Council. Planned to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the goal of the party is to celebrate diversity in our community and foster mutual respect across cultural borders. Everyone is encouraged to learn about other cultures while also celebrating their own heritage.
There will be games and activities for the entire family that are both fun and educational as well as free food and entertainment. Some of the activities include: an Martin Luther King Jr. Jeopardy game, an interactive presentation on the civil rights movement and a fun mock protest to teach kids how to express themselves peacefully.
Also, guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the OCCAC Food Bank.
