CWU Presents Winter Wind Ensemble Concert

The Central Washington University Wind Ensemble will present a free concert Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at 7 p.m. in the CWU Music Building Concert Hall. Conductor Larry Gookin will lead the ensemble in some of the finest music written for wind band: Percy Grainger’s “Molly On The Shore,” Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in E-Flat for Military Band,” John Mackey’s “Asphalt Cocktail,” and Leonard Bernstein’s “Profanation.” Several transcriptions will also be performed: Bach’s “Adagio” from his “Toccata, Adagio, and Fugue” for organ, and Stephen Stucky’s adaption of Henry Purcell’s “Funeral Music for Queen Mary.” Graduate student Mark Claassen will conduct ”Al Fresco” by Karel Husa. The CWU Wind Ensemble has performed at regional, state, and national conferences, and is considered one of the nation’s premier wind ensembles, on a par with much larger programs of distinction. Persons of disability may make arrangements for reasonable accommodation by calling 509-963-1916 or (for hearing impaired) TDD 509-963-2143.
