Mission Creek Players will be performing "Art" a Tony-Award winning play by Yasmina Reza, at the Nifty Theater in Waterville on July 13, 2013 at 7PM. The comedy, which raises questions about art and friendship, concerns three long-time friends, Serge, Marc, and Yvan. Serge, indulging his penchant for modern art, buys a large, expensive, completely white painting. Marc is horrified, and their relationship suffers considerable strain as a result of their differing opinions about what constitutes "art." Yvan, caught in the middle of the conflict, tries to please and mollify both of them. This production of "Art" is a celebration of the life and the commitment to local theater of Paul Burke, founding member and 2013-2014 board member of Mission Creek Players. Paul directed the performances of "Art" at the Clearwater Steakhouse in June 2013, the first shows by Mission Creek Players in several years. Paul passed away on closing night of these performances. You are invited to the benefit performance for Mission Creek Players' scholarship (two $250 scholarships awarded to Wenatchee Valley College students interested in theater) and the Nifty Theater in Waterville. Tickets are $5 for single, $8 for couple and are available at the door the night of the performance. These proceeds will be split between Mission Creek Players and the Nifty.
