Imogene "Jean" Strong
George
Imogene "Jean" Strong, age 80, our beloved and loving
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, peacefully passed
away on June 22, 2006, surrounded by loved ones. Jean was
born on May 23, 1926, in Oklahoma to Claude and Georgia
Hughes Green. Following graduation she moved to California to
begin a nursing program. Jean met her husband to be, Alfred
Lyle Strong and they married on April 5, 1947. All of Alfred's and
Jean's six children were born while they resided in their first
family home in Cottage Grove, Oregon. In 1958, Jean, Alfred
and the extended Strong Family moved to George, WA to own
and operate the family restaurant, Martha Inn, where she was
known as "Mama Jean." In 1974, Jean and Alfred moved to
Ocean Shores to own and operate a drive-in. Then they moved
to Seattle to be closer to Alfred's doctor. During this time, Jean
managed an apartment complex and became a real estate
agent. After Alfred passed away in 1978, she moved back to
George, sold real estate for awhile and worked as a bookkeeper.
Some of Jean's passions were playing cards, fishing, collecting
antiques, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her
family. Jean was a special grandmother who devoted much of
her time and love to her grandchildren.
Jean is preceded in death by parents, Claude and Georgia
Green; sister, Opal Green; brothers, Jim and Barney Green
(William and Stanley); husband, Alfred Strong; sons, Danny and
