Eric "Bud" Rockwell Wood of Ritzville, WA
Wednesday, December 5, 2007
Eric "Bud" Rockwell Wood was born on the Colville Indian Reservation in Lafleur, WA, February 28, 1928, to Eric and Mary (Wells) Wood, going to the Great Provider on December 2, 2007. He married Patricia Ann Boyd, September 12, 1948, in Omak and just celebrated their 59th Anniversary. Bud worked at Claire Greeley's gas station in Okanogan as a young man. They owned a ranch on the Columbia River at Cartar Valley, before moving to Bridgeport. In 1958, they moved to Omak, where he enjoyed raising his family, driving trucks and mechanic'n for John Figenshow in Tonasket. In 1976, he bought one of John's trucks to start his own livestock trucking business and moved to Spokane, to be closer to livestock yards. He had permits to haul cows, pigs, horses and elephants, though he never hauled elephants. He drove truck alone until Pat joined him for ten years of trucking adventures. In 1990, they moved to Ritzville, where they both retired and started farming. Unable to farm after his heart problems, he turned to working with his computers, learning their ins and outs. He was very interested in family history, genealogy and loved taking pictures with digital cameras. He also enjoyed talking to family and many friends through emails, sending news, pictures and animated do-dah's. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; five daughters, Peggy Skirko of Chattaroy, Kathy and Steve Rappe' of Republic, Diane and Scott Juhnke of 9 Mile Falls, Margie and Bill Morse of Spokane and Rosemary and Larry Coulson of Spokane; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. He was so loved by all his family. Service will be Friday, December 7, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel, 2547 Elmway, Okanogan. Memorial dinner will follow at the Baptist Church, 327 Rose St., Okanogan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to your favorite charity or the East Adams Rural Hospital, 903 S. Adams Street, Ritzville, WA 99169.
