Donald W. Rudolph of Peshastin

Donald W. Rudolph, 77, a lifetime resident of Peshastin, died Sunday evening, July 8, 2007, in Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth. He was born on November 14, 1929, at Leavenworth to Gus and Laurie (Ogden) Rudolph. Don was raised and educated in Peshastin where he was active in sports, especially basketball, graduating in 1947. During the growing up years, Don worked in the family orchards. In 1948, Don enlisted in the United States Air Force, and after receiving his honorable discharge on July 26, 1950, he returned to Peshastin to operate the family orchards. On January 27, 1952, he married June Ostella at Leavenworth and they moved to Bellingham and in 1953, they returned to Peshastin to raise their family and make their home. Don purchased the family orchard and expanded the Rudolph Fruit orchard and was a partner in the Spanish Castle Orchards. Don was a member of the Chumstick Grange #819, and Blue Bird Warehouse, of which he was a past member of the board of directors. He loved his family immensely and enjoyed hiking in the mountains, rock hunting, hunting and fishing with his sons and other family members and friends. He enjoyed horseback riding and their many trips to Mexico. Don is survived by his wife, June Rudolph, of the family home; sons and daughters-in-law, Don G. and Lynnette Rudolph of East Wenatchee and Dennis and Cindy Rudolph of Peshastin; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Dick Wolfe of East Wenatchee and Sharon and Chuck Berrie of Ephrata; sisters, Shirley Ogle of Peshastin, Dorothy Anderson of Issaquah, Ruth Bertschey of Burien, Jean Alfaro of Wenatchee and Judy Eastlick of Etna, CA; ten grandchildren, Rhiannon, Raquel, Josh, Cameron, Seth, Lindsay, Stuart, Cohn, Alexis, Kara and an adopted grandson, Justin Weigum; one great-granddaughter, Madison; and one great-grandson, Troy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Peggy. A Memorial Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Donald W. Rudolph will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at 3:30 p.m. at the Peshastin United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Ann Hinz officiating and Rev. Geoff Gannon, participating. Memorials may be made in Don's name to the Cascade Medical Center Memorial Fund at 817 Commercial Street or the Mountain Meadows Assisted Living at 320 Park Avenue, Leavenworth, WA 98826. Ward's Funeral Chapel of Leavenworth is in charge of the arrangements.
