Vearl Campain of Grand Coulee

Vearl Campain, 88,  went to be with the Lord,  Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. He was a long time resident of Grand Coulee, WA. Vearl was born to Frank and Katherine Campain, March 19, 1919, in St. Edward, NE. He was the only boy of seven children. He graduated from St. Edward High School in 1938. Vearl married Betty Huff December 25, 1942, in Orlando, FL. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps January 7, 1942, and served until November 15, 1945. The family settled at Pateros, WA in August 1947, and raised their two daughters there. Vearl joined the Carpenter's Union in 1947, and that was his life long work. He loved camping, the sport of water skiing and spending time with his family and friends.  Vearl married Lila Stevenson March 24, 1968, in Republic, WA and moved to Grand Coulee, WA in March 1971. He worked for the U.S.B.R. of Grand Coulee Dam until retirement in 1985. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Vernetta Harrington, Loretta Meyer, Grace Wilcox and Jane Grosch. Survivors include his wife, Lila Campain; two daughters, Janelle (Larry) Tupling of Mansfield, WA and Gaye (Leo) Welter of East Wenatchee, WA; five grandchildren, Pamela Barajas of Renton WA, Dana Holms, Shawn Welter, Heather Pittman, all of Spokane, WA and Zachary  Hagenbarth of Wenatchee, WA; two step-children, Mike Stevenson of Boise, ID and Kerry Stickney of Pittsburg, CA; three step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Darlene Potter of Columbus, NE and Delores Berggren of Stanford, NE. Graveside Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Grand Coulee Spring Canyon Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waterville Funeral Home.
