Herbert Arvis White

Herbert Arvis White, age 88, passed away February 25, 2008, at the Rose Garden Care Center in Omak, WA. Herb was born November 11, 1919, in Science Hill, KY, to Albert and Velma White. He served in WWII, with an honorable discharge on January 3, 1946. On April 9, 1965, he was married to Elsie Elizabeth Hagood and together, they ran the Okanogan Liquor Store for many years. He enjoyed his horses and he and Elsie enjoyed many horseback rides to the "high country." Herb was active in the Okanogan County Sheriff's Posse and enjoyed riding in the parades and helping out during the Omak Stampede. Herb was a member of the Palestine Masonic Lodge #214 of Omak, the Scottish Rite, the El Katif Shrine, the Okanogan County Shrine Club, a lifetime member of the Okanogan Elks and a member of the Okanogan County Sheriff's Posse. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Wills; step-daughter, Vivian Burse; step-son, Gerald Hagood; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie on January 9, 2004; parents, Albert and Velma; four brothers; and one sister. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tonasket Cemetery, officiated by the Palestine Masonic Lodge #214. Bergh Funeral Service of Oroville/Tonasket in care of arrangements.
