Adeline "Ruth" Barnett

Adeline "Ruth" Barnett, 78, of Omak, WA, passed away on March 23, 2008, at Apple Meadows, with her husband and daughter by her side. Ruth was born on March 18, 1930, to Alonzo and Barbara Dennis in Denver, CO. She was raised by her grandparents, William and Mary Dennis in Taneyville, MO and went to school at Union Flats, until she met and fell in love with a very special man. She married James "Frank" Barnett in Harrison, AR on December 28, 1946. They made their home in Taneyville for a while and then moved to Tonasket, WA in 1951, with their two children. In 1957, they moved to Omak, WA with their four children. Ruth worked in the fruit industry for many years as an apple packer, including Larabies in Ellisford, Holts in Omak and the Big "O"/Starcrisp in Okanogan, where she made many friends. She also worked at the Caribou Inn for a short time as a waitress. Ruth was a devoted member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Okanogan, where she was also a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary. She loved working in her garden, knitting and making quilts for her family, as well as spending time with them and her little dog, "Buttons." Ruth is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank Barnett of Omak, WA; daughter, Linda (Charles) Gross of Riverbank, CA; daughter, Wanda (Jim) Brannon of Okanogan, WA; daughter, Debbie (Stan) Gonser of Spokane, WA; sisters, Dorothy Reid of Omak, JoAnn Ivie of Nowata, OK; half-sister, Grace; and three half-brothers, Jim, Chuck and Cecil Alan of Colorado; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Ron; one brother; a sister; her parents; and grandparents. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel on Elmway in Okanogan, WA. She will be laid to rest following the service at the Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements for Ruth Barnett.
