Robert “Bob” Barr
1918 — 2008
“He was Marlon Brando before Marlon Brando even thought of it.” (Harley Davidsons Hog Tales, Volume 19/Number 5, September/October 2001)
Dad truly enjoyed life. Dad took his last ride on a Golden Harley on September 15, 2008. Born in Everett on November 29, 1918, Bob was lovingly raised from the age of 12, by his Uncle Tony and Aunt Bernice Stecher after the death of his mother. He graduated from Everett High School and worked at Simpson Paper Co. until he went into the Army Air Corps. After the service, he returned to Everett, where he married Laura Sigvartsen Tjerne. They raised five children in Everett. Bob continued to work at Simpson Paper Co. as a millwright, until the Everett plant closed and he transferred to Redding, CA, where he retired at the age of 62. After retirement, he built a home and moved to Leavenworth, where he lived for the next 19 years. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; daughter, Toni Marie; brother, James; and special friend, Vi Wilson. He is survived by his son, John Barr; daughters, Liane Reinke and husband, John Bud and Marilouise Heise (Reasie); and step-son, Bill Tjerne. Bob had ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Maribeth, Bonnie, Margie and Chaplain Donna from the Hospice of Snohomish County. Our thanks also to Velda and Marge with the Partners Program.
We would like to extend our special thanks to Daniella and Sorin Bojica and their daughters, Alexandra and Maria, for taking such wonderful care of dad for the last two years, treating him as one of their family. The quality of his life greatly improved after moving into their home. They are very special people and will always be part of our family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Snohomish County.
