PESHASTIN — Motorists will begin using the new Highway 2/97 diamond interchange at Peshastin this weekend, six months ahead of schedule for the $21.6 million state Department of Transportation project.

Traffic was routed onto the interchange on- and off-ramps Friday night as construction crews removed the temporary traffic signal that has been used the past few months to control traffic during construction. Traffic will remain on the ramps through Saturday while crews restripe roadways and finish work on the Highway 2 overpass bridges. Washington State Patrol troopers and flaggers will be directing traffic.
