Betty L. (Crawford) Holden, 89, of Wenatchee and formerly a longtime resident of Chelan, died Monday evening, September 8, 2008, at Central Washington Hospital. She was born January 17, 1919, at Wenatchee, the daughter of Roy and Martha (Paul) Smith. She attended schools at Chelan and graduated from Chelan High School in 1937. After attending Washington State University for two years, she resided in Seattle for a time before returning to Chelan. On October 27, 1945, she was married to Clarence Crawford at Wenatchee. Following their marriage, they resided in Chelan. For many years, Betty was employed with the Beebe Orchard Co., until her retirement in 1983. Her first husband, Clarence, preceded her in death in 1986. In 1993, she married James Patrick Holden at Wenatchee. They resided in Chelan until June of 2000, when they moved to Wenatchee. Betty had attended Eastmont Baptist Church and had been a member of Chelan Eagles Auxiliary #2218. Survivors include her husband, Pat, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Cathy) Wells of Wenatchee; a brother, Phil Smith of Germany; a granddaughter, Kris Kelley of W. Los Angeles, CA; her grandsons, Jason Wells of Wenatchee and Kevin Wells of Snohomish; and a great-granddaughter, Josephine Wells of Snohomish. A Tribute Service will take place on Friday, September 12, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Precht Rose Chapel, with Pastor Steve Brewer, officiating. Private Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Eastmont Baptist Church Building Fund or Mobile Meals of Wenatchee, P.O. Box 1343, Wenatchee, WA 98807-1343. Services have been entrusted to Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
