Charles F. Winter, 93, a 36 year resident of East Wenatchee, died Friday, July 31, 2009. He was born and raised in San Diego, CA, where he meet the love of his life, Barbara. Together they had 11 children, including Sharon of Las Cruces, NM, Gloria (Gary) of Seattle, WA, Thomas (Barb) of Wenatchee, Mary (Steven) of Wilsonville, OR, Janet of Selah, WA, Barbara of East Wenatchee, Molly (Mike) of Shady Cove, OR, William of Soap Lake, WA, Charles Jr. (Sheila) of Palmer, AK, Patricia of Olympia, WA and Janice of Wenatchee, WA. Charles worked for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, CA. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service, as a letter carrier, and served in the U.S. Navy. After retirement from the Post Office, he made his way to East Wenatchee, to help open up Abby's Pizza on Grant Road. He was a volunteer at Central Washington Hospital for ten years. He had attended Holy Apostles Catholic Church for 36 years, and helped for many years documenting the collections. He had a way with growing the best vegetables and flower gardens; he loved working in his yard and feeding his little birds.He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara. He is survived by his 11 children; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Virginia, Helen, Rosemary and Dorothy.His kind and gentle soul, along with his keen sense of humor, sustained him through his entire life. He was greatly loved and will be missed tremendously by all his family and friends.Holy Rosary will be held at Telford's Chapel of the Valley on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. All are invited to a reception at his home after the Rosary. Arrangements by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
