Highway 12 closures due for blasting work
Tuesday, December 1, 2009
NACHES — A stretch of Highway 12 was closed Monday and more closures may follow on Monday or Thursday nights until Dec. 24, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The highway was closed in order to allow crews to blast rock from near the highway.
During the closure, westbound traffic was required to turn around or wait at the Oak Creek Feeding Station, about eight miles west of Naches. Local traffic was allowed as far as the Windy Point campground. Eastbound traffic had to turn around or wait at the White Pass summit. Local eastbound traffic was permitted to travel as far as Rimrock Retreat.
Alternate routes are Interstate 90 and Highway 97 to Interstate 84.
